JBTR is an open access, peer-reviewed international journal that accepts articles on: clinical medicine, molecular medicine, tropical medicine, infectious diseases, cardiovascular medicine, molecular biology, genetics, immunology, microbiology, biochemistry, and pharmacotherapy, with a particular focus on the relationship between clinical research and basic research known as translational research. This journal is published by the Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, Diponegoro University.

Currently, in line with the rapid progress of genomic research and medical services globally, JBTR has established scientific collaboration with the Indonesian Society of Human Genetics (InaSHG) and the Indonesian Society of Internal Medicine (PAPDI) Semarang branch by inviting members of InaSHG and PAPDI to become members of the editorial board and advisory board as well as reviewers. This journal publishes three editions annually, namely in April, August, and December.

JBTR is accredited Sinta 1 based on the Decree of the Minister of Research and Technology/Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency Number 10/C/C3/DT.05.00/2025 . JBTR is indexed in: Sinta, Google Scholar, Crossref, and DOAJ.
